THE SILVER COAST, a gem 1h15 drive from Lisbon

Portugal's Silver Coast runs along the Atlantic coast for 280 km, stretching more or less from the town of Espinho, 30 km south of Porto to the town of Peniche, about 100 km north of Lisbon . This magnificent region is full of contrasts. It is made of authentic villages full of charm, wild seashores and historic sites classified as World Heritage by Unesco.

From our "Casas na onda" in Nazaré and São Martinho do Porto, you can explore the entire Silver Coast and discover many of Portugal's major tourist sites. If you are a history buff, the rich cultural heritage of this region will enchant you, from the monastery of Batalha to that of Alcobaca, passing through the fortified town of Obidos and the convent of Christ in Tomar, without forgetting one of the oldest universities in Europe in Coimbra and its famous library.

If you are more into beaches or water sports, the immense fine sandy beach Praia da Nazaré, supervised in all seasons, is located just a few steps from our "Casas na onda" Liberdade, Elevador and Subvila. This long beach which extends under the cliff invites you to relax, swim, do water sports, or even go out to sea to admire the dolphins. Further north, behind the Nazaré lighthouse, the famous Praia do Norte is waiting for you (that's where you can admire the giant waves from October to February and it is also a world-famous surf spot).

15 minutes from Nazaré, our "Casa na Onda" Sonho da Baia, will offer you a breath taking view over the whole bay and the quiet and family beach of São Martinho do Porto. Its protected bay forming a perfect oval, and its sheltered location make it one of the safest beaches on the coast for swimming and practicing water sports.

Nazaré region is also well known for its many and varied excellent restaurants: you will be spoiled for choice.
